June 3, 2022 @ 5:00 pm 8:00 pm

Join friends at three downtown galleries and the Democratic Headquarters for the First Friday Art Walk and Spring on Main Festival, Friday, June 3.  Galleries will be open 5 – 8 pm.  Galleries will not be providing refreshments, as food and drink vendors will be part of the Spring on Main Festival.

Art Space Vincennes LLC, 521 Main will continue Improbable Spaces, painting, and sculpture by Amy DeLap and Andy Jendrzejewski.  This show continues a series of exhibitions occurring over the last year that have explored the various directions of the gallery owners’ art careers.  DeLap will show non-objective enamel and collage paintings on paper.  Jendrzejewski will show mixed-media sculptures that originated as concepts for large-scale environmental installations.

Outdoor music will be provided at the gallery entrance by the duo Grey…matter, Bob Kemp, and Mike Boyer.  They will play clean electric guitar at an acoustic volume between 6 and 7.

Regular gallery hours: Tue – Sat Noon – 5 pm.  Other hours by appointment; call 812-887-6145

Northwest Territory Art Guild, 316 Main will open two one-person exhibitions.  Photographs by Matt Ramsey will be presented in a show titled the Little Woods on the Wabash: a Celebration of the Landscapes of Ouabache Trails Park.  The result of a four-year project, the exhibition is an all-seasons collection of woodland landscape photography highlighting the unique riparian environment of the Wabash River forest corridor in Knox County.  Work ranges from film to digital, in art paper and metal presentation, in editions from one to five.  20% of First Friday sales are committed to supporting park improvements.  More information at Ramsey’s website.

Matt returned home to Vincennes from Naval service in 2018.  Since then he has been completing a BA at Indiana State University and building a fine art photography practice and business. He participated in the On-Ramp Creative Entrepreneurship Accelerator Program for Working Artists sponsored by the Indiana Arts Commission and has been working with Pantheon Theater services to develop a new venture, “Opti-Viz Media”.

Victoria Kramer’s exhibition Spirit of Collaboration will present ceramic works featuring raku glazes, which produce earthy colors and surface textures. Victoria, a graduate of the University of Evansville, lives outside of Vincennes.  She considers herself a groundskeeper and potter.  She states: “It is the act of doing and to keep moving that drives me forward.  It is an exciting act to pull the wares from the flames of fire to see the results that the spiritual forces influence has deposited on the completed ware.

In this exhibition, Victoria has collaborated with her sister-in-law, Susan Vieck, a floral designer and Master Gardner, with many years of experience.  Susan has created floral arrangements that harmonize with the pottery. Victoria states: “Our work is simply a statement of working in tandem with people and natural elements to augment the presentation of the wares.  Susan has an innate and speedy way to pull the natural elements together.”

Work by Guild members will also be on display and for sale.

Regular gallery hours: Tue – Sat 11 am – 2 pm. Additional hours by appointment; contact the gallery via Facebook.

The Open Gallery 329 Main will continue through June One Thing Leads to Another, and another: Recent Paintings by Ryan McKain, with new works not previously exhibited brought in for this month’s show.  McKain, an Evansville artist, uses an energetic color palette to create gestural abstraction based on the human face and figure. The First Friday Players will again provide rollicking good Irish music for visitors to enjoy.

Regular gallery hours: Tue, Thu 12 – 5 pm, Sat 11 am – 4 pm, and by chance. 812- 881-6475

The new Knox County Indiana Democratic Headquarters314 Main Street will give viewers another chance to see Fernando Lozano’s powerful prints on stretched canvas, the first group of works in his series titled Our Rights, Our Freedom, Our Vote.  These 13 pieces, each 20.5” x 3”
