- When was the last time you visited the George Rogers Clark National Historical Park? The park is open daily from 9am to 5pm, except national holidays. Stroll the beautiful grounds that overlook the Wabash River and browse the displays in the visitor’s center. The Memorial to visitors upon request, and the Visitors Center is open daily from 9:00am – 5:00pm.
- Get up close and personal with jets and tanks at the Indiana Military Museum. This remarkable museum has one of the most comprehensive displays in the Midwest right here in Vincennes! The outside exhibits are free for public view and gates are open during the museum’s hours, 10am to 4pm daily.
- Bring the family to laugh and learn at the Red Skelton Museum on the first Sunday of each month. Enjoy free admission to this fabulous state-of-the-art interactive museum honoring Vincennes’ favorite son and great American comedian, Red Skelton.
- If you just don’t have the time to visit our museums, use our cell phone tour to “Dial and Discover” information on each attraction. This brief audio tour has 12 tour “stops” beginning with George Rogers Clark and ending with the Sieur de Vincennes statue. The tour is free except for plan usage. Pick up a visitors guide at the Visitors Bureau for a list of cell phone tour stops.
- Cooler weather is a great time to get the family outdoors and learn more about our natural surroundings. The Second Sunday Nature Walk features a new theme every month, and as a participant you will discover amazing facts about nature! Walk are held at Ouabache Trails Park monthly.
- We are lucky to have the beautiful Wabash River bordering our city, and what better way to see it than by taking a casual excursion on the Riverwalk? From 1st and Main to 1st and Hart Streets, the Riverwalk offers an outstanding view of the Wabash with benches along the way to just sit and relax.
- The fish are biting at Fox Ridge Nature Park! Did you know there is a stocked pond just off the entrance to the park? It is easy to access just as you enter the park.
- Visit one or all three of our local art galleries! Owned by local residents, each of Vincennes’ art galleries offers visitors a unique experience and a chance to explore a variety of different styles of art. Entrance to all galleries is free, but you may be tempted to purchase a piece to take home with you.
- Step outside, get some fresh air, and embrace public art while visiting the seven unique sculptures that have been placed around town as a part of the First City Public Sculpture Project! The project’s goal is to bring positive and creative experiences to all members of the Vincennes community; and you too can embrace these experiences by visiting these unique works and following THIS guided map.
- Apple Hill Orchard is harvesting apples! An easy drive north on Highway 41 will get you to one of the best orchards in the area. Inside Apple Hill, visitors can watch employees press (process) cider through a large glass window. The refrigerators are full of chilled cider and just-picked apples, and the counter tops covered with baked treats. Don’t be surprised if you are tempted to purchase an apple cider slushie or bring home a pie!
