Astronomy Night is October 21 from 6:30 to 9:30 pm for kids of all ages. Activities, games, and stargazing will be part of the fun for all ages. Kids can earn the Night Explorer patch and preview programs for the 2024 Solar Eclipse.
Kids between ages 5 and 14, will receive a Junior Ranger patch for attending their first program or a commemorative badge for their second program. The Rotary Young Leaders Club of Vincennes is hosting its second half marathon in Indiana’s first city! With the goal of promoting a healthy lifestyle within Knox County and surrounding cities whilst also raising funds for local charities and organizations within the community, the Historical Half Marathon will highlight many of the first city’s historic landmarks not only by having participants move past them but also through auditory listening devices.
There will also be a 5K and a Kids Fun Run for people to participate in.

Enjoy the natural beauty of Ouabache Trails Park during a casual nature walk with Master Naturalist Terri Talarek King on Sunday, September 11, 2022. The walk will begin at 2:00 Eastern from the Sacajawea Shelter House (at the back of the park’s lower loop road) and will proceed on Trail 7.
This trail begins in a wetland area consisting of a wet meadow, stream, and swamp, with abundant summer plants and wildlife. Trail 7 then winds through upland forest habitat with hills and ravines. Walkers will experience a variety of trees, plants, fungi, and animals.
There is no fee or registration. Terri Talarek King provides the Second Sunday Nature Exploration Walks as an Independent Naturalist, for all who are interested.

This walk is planned for Trail 8 (River Fishing Trail), beginning at 2:00 pm Eastern. Trail 8 begins just beyond the entrance to the park’s lower loop, to the left.
Explore and discover the ecology of the Wabash River floodplain and riverside, and look for animal tracks.
Be prepared for wet and muddy conditions. If Trail 8 is not passable, the walk will begin on Trail 4 across the road and will explore areas around the large creek.
This walk is free, with no registration required. All are welcome and families are encouraged. Emphasis on all walks is on observation, exploration, and discovery. Walks proceed rain, shine, or snow. Be prepared for wet areas
