To help you enjoy all the fall has to offer, we’ve created this bucket list of things every Knox County resident and visitor should experience during this time of the year.
Visit Apple Hill Orchard
After the blazing hot summer we’ve had, there’s no doubt everyone will be welcoming the crisp autumn air with open arms. As the season changes to fall, it’s time to celebrate all of the goodies that come with it! A trip to Apple Hill Orchard is a fall must-do. Grab a fresh apple cider slushie and a homemade caramel apple. You can also buy a variety of apples by the bag, local honey and so much more.
Sample Fall Flavors
As we said earlier, the changing of a season also means bringing in all the seasonal goodies it has to offer. The “Vincennes Historic Farmers Market” is your one-stop-shop for all things produce. The Farmers Market is bursting with all your favorite seasonal foods like apples, pumpkins and pies of all kinds. But you better hurry, because the Farmers Market closes shop for the season at the end of October.
Pick a Pumpkin from Halters Market
When you’re looking for the picture perfect pumpkin to go on your front porch, head to Halters Market. During the fall season, they stock up with gourds of all shapes, sizes and colors.
Explore The Big Peach
You name it, they’ve got it. From produce to pie to honey and more, The Big Peach is sure to fulfill whatever your fall flavored craving may be. During the weekends in October, families can enjoy a fun festival including a pumpkin patch, corn maze, bounce house and games.
Pack a Picnic and Get Outdoors
The cooler air is coming, which will make it much more enjoyable to be outdoors. Stop by Jay C Food Stores or the Dutch Pantry for a sandwich from their deli. Once you’ve gathered all your picnic supplies there are plenty of picnic spots to choose from. Here are some of our favorite picnic spots.
Take in the Fall Scenery
Fall brings some of the most beautiful sights to Knox County, without a doubt. Be sure to take advantage of this season by enjoying the changing of the leaves. Here are five places you can go to catch some of the prettiest views in the county:
- Ouabache Trails Park
- Gregg Park
- George Rogers Clark National Historical Park
- Fox Ridge Nature Park
- Rod and Gun Club Road
