In honor of National Take a Hike Day yesterday, it seemed that now was the time to share two of the best places to hike in Knox County.
Fox Ridge Nature Park
Fox Ridge Nature Park is a ninety-five-acre property located on the northern side of Vincennes. Formerly a golf course, the land was purchased by the State of Indiana’s Bicentennial Nature Trust grant project as a part of federal efforts for land and water conservation with the intent to create a public space for passive recreation, which provides visitors with numerous bicycling, hiking and walking trails in addition to a large pond for fishing.
Ouabache Trails Park
Ouabache Trails Park is a 250-acre park situated on the northern side of Vincennes. The park has numerous trails for outdoor walking, hiking, and biking. Ouabache Trails has eight different trails that vary in difficulty, length, and elevation; all of which show off an array of wildlife and the various natural landscapes that Knox County has to offer.
Ouabache Trails is also home to the Knox County Parks and Recreation Department’s “Second Sunday Nature Exploration Walks;” which provide participants with an opportunity to enjoy being out in nature and to learn and share with others while focusing on a different topic each session.
