It is the first weekend of August and Downtown Vincennes will be buzzing with activity. Although we are still in Phase 4.5 of the Governor’s plan, here are some great options for families to safely enjoy.
The Annual Knox County Watermelon Festival will take place downtown on Patrick Henry Square this Friday and Saturday. Enjoy great food, live music, children’s pageants and FREE local watermelon!
While attending the festival, take a stroll on the Riverwalk. From it you can enjoy the scenic view of the Wabash River and it is also a great place to let the kids burn off some energy! You can access the Riverwalk from 1st and Main Streets.
The Farmers’ Market at the Riverfront Pavilion is just around the corner from the festival. Stock up on your favorite in season produce and shop local artisans on Saturday morning.
The Downtown Merchants offer a charming selection of shopping and dining. Many businesses are located in Main Street’s historic storefronts and part of the Greater Downtown Vincennes Architectural Tour.
On Sunday, bring your family out for a walk at Ouabache Trails Park and take part in “Bugs, Bugs, Bugs!”, the Second Sunday Nature Walk. Walks are suitable for all ages, and families are encouraged. No registration or fee is required.
