We have had plenty of winter weather, but is spring far behind?
Join local Naturalist Terri Talarek King at Ouabache Trails Park for a causal walk to look for any signs of spring along the way! The “Lookin’ for the Green” Nature Exploration Walk, on Sunday, March 10, will start at 2:00 ET at the Sacajawea Shelter House, at the back of the lower loop road. The walk will use trails 6, 5, and 4 and will take 1.5 to 2 hours. Participants should be prepared for wet or muddy places and some steep slopes.
Magnifying lenses will be very useful on this walk. Participants are encouraged to bring their own as a limited number are will be provided.
All ages are welcome, and families encouraged to attend. No fee or registration is required.
Second Sunday Nature Exploration walks are offered to give people an opportunity to enjoy being out in nature and to learn and share with others. Each walk has a different theme, which can be general or specific, to help participants focus on a certain aspect of nature during different times of the year though the walks are always open to what the participants see, hear, and experience. Walks occur on various trails and areas of the park, exploring different ecosystems and habitats, according to the theme of the day. Minimal, if any, materials are used. Rather than being hikes, all the walks are slow and casual, ranging from easy to more challenging terrain.
