The kids are back in school but there is still weekend activities to enjoy locally. Although we are still in Phase 4.5 of the Governor’s plan, here are some great options for families.
The Old Town Players Theater opens it production of Four Old Broads, a hilarious comedy play on Friday, August 14 with shows on the 15 and 16. Here is a snapshot of the play: Retired burlesque queen Beatrice Shelton desperately needs a vacation – and NOT another trip up to Helen, Georgia to see that “precious little German village for the umpteenth time.” A Sassy Seniors Cruise through the Caribbean may be just the ticket if she can just convince her best friend, Eaddy Mae Clayton, to stop praying and go with her.
Support local by visiting the Farmers Market on Saturday for local in season produce and handmade items.
Visit the Indiana Military Museum for their Vietnam Veterans Appreciation Day as they honor Vietnam War Veterans on Saturday, August 15. The living history event is filled with outdoor activities including battle scenarios, Veterans/Living History Reenactor demonstrations, military artifact vendors and food vendors. The museum will be offering “Huey” helicopter rides for a fee.
Discover the sights, sounds, smells and tastes of colonial French Vincennes in general, as well as the daily life of a French fur trader at Colonial French Days presented by the Vincennes State Historic Sites. Walk through the Old French House (built around 1809), learn about early French life and enjoy live music from the time period.
Enjoy an authentic German meal at the Germanfest on Saturday, August 15 at Highland Woods Community Center. This years event will be drive thru only.
