“Securing the Vote: Women’s Suffrage in Indiana” 100th Anniversary of Women’s Right to Vote – Knox County Public Library
March 6, 2021 @ 8:00 am – March 29, 2021 @ 5:00 pm
In recognition of the 100th Anniversary of Women’s Right to Vote the Knox County Public Library is hosting a special exhibit, Securing the Vote: Women’s Suffrage in Indiana is on exhibit at the Knox County Public Library. This exhibit would not have been made available to the public without the efforts of the League of Women Voters of Knox County or the Vincennes State Historic Sites, both exhibit sponsors. The Knox County Public Library, as a partnering sponsor agreed to host the exhibit once it was secured to display in Vincennes. Securing the Vote: Women’s Suffrage in Indiana will be available to view in the Library’s sunroom from Saturday, March 6 through Monday, March 29 during regular library hours. In addition, display cases throughout the library will highlight significant women in our history.
The League of Women Voters of Knox County, also celebrating the 100th Anniversary of the founding of the organization, is providing an opportunity to view the docu-drama film, Iron-Jawed Angels. The film covers the national effort to achieve the women’s vote on a continuous loop throughout the month. Also on display, A Century of Women’s Suffrage – 1920 – 2020: The March Toward Leadership covers many articles related to current and historical efforts by women. Twenty-five issues will be available to visitors, while they last.
*This exhibit is on loan from the Indiana Historical Society and is sponsored by the League of Women Voters of Knox County along with the Vincennes State Historic Sites and the Knox County Public Library.
