First Friday Art Walk

The Open Gallery is proud to welcome Julia Wright for a solo exhibition of her work titled “So Tall Grows the Corn: Rural ‘Insouciantism’ in the Muck of Modern Times.” The title may be ponderous but the work is an eclectic mix of large paintings, monoprints and drawings that explore optimism and humor in the face of the mundanity of modern life.
Artist reception is Friday, July 3, from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. at The Open Gallery 329 Main Street in Vincennes. A second reception will be held on Friday, August 7 with a new set of paintings. The show will close at the end of August.
Gallery hours: Tuesday- Saturday, 12:30-4:30p.m.; closed Sunday and Monday.
The Northwest Territory Art Guild will be honoring the 250th anniversary of the United States. Artists of all backgrounds are encouraged to submit work that embodies the spirit of America. Open to the public, the exhibition’s opening night will be on July 3, First Friday from 5-8 PM.

Art Space Vincennes LLC is exhibiting Carol Messers peaceful and tranquil exhibit. The exhibit is titled “For Those Who Love the World”, is the English dedication used by Pierre Teilhard de Chardin in his influential book, The Divine Milieu. It is often paired with the Latin phrase “Sic Deus dilexit mundum” (Thus God loved the world), reflecting his focus on finding the divine within the material world.

First Friday Art Walks take place in downtown Vincennes, March – December. Receptions held at 3 downtown art galleries: Art Space Vincennes LLC, Northwest Territory Art Guild, The Open Gallery. Galleries showcase local artists, and visitors can purchase paintings, sculptures, pottery, hand-crafted jewelry, and more. Art Walks are held from 5-8 PM Vincennes time.
