Finding Comfort Food Locally

Spring has arrived but with it comes a mix of rainy, dreary and warm, sunny days.  We think the best remedy to get through the dreary days is a healthy dose of WARM COMFORT FOOD.  Some of our favorite local restaurant have exactly what you need to give you a boost when necessary!

Dogwood BBQ offers great down-home cooking with smoked pork and chicken, fried chicken, homemade noodles, fresh-baked pies, bread and so much more.

Starting early in the morning Graze 1885 serves delicious breakfast sandwiches, bagels, and a broad assortment of pastries as well as gourmet coffees to warm you up inside and out.  During lunch, they offer a daily soup option to pair with your sandwich or choose a bowl for your meal.

Hearty soups, sandwiches, and specialty desserts are waiting for you at Pea-Fections.  Their gourmet lunch selections and desserts will have you coming back again and again. The warm bread pudding is our favorite!

Quickie’s Sandwich Bar lives up to its name featuring fast service, but fans of the restaurant love the menu’s great variety. The established sub shop serves a variety of delicious submarine sandwiches on fresh-baked bread, made-to-order salads, and Gabe’s famous homemade Cheesy Potato Bacon Soup, available year-round!

Just North on Highway 41 in Oaktown, The Melon Patch is always cooking up something new.  Breakfast starts with biscuits and gravy and sandwiches and for lunch, the kitchen serves up deli sandwiches and salads. Daily specials include Taco Tuesdays and Cheeseburger Wednesdays. Don’t forget to pick a pound (or two) of the Patch’s gourmet fudge on your way out!
