Weekend Roundup

There is so much going on this time of year. The holidays are just around the corner, there are gifts to buy, and the new year will be here before we know it. That doesn’t mean that events in your community aren’t going on though!

Here are just a few of the many events going on this weekend here in Knox County (and trust us, you won’t want to miss a single one!):

FRIDAY, DECEMBER 10TH

There is no better way to get into the holiday spirit than visiting a Christmas market! We are so happy to be a part of the first of many First City Christkindlmarkt & Festival. There will be artisan craft vendors from noon until 8 pm at Patrick Henry Square, gingerbread cookie decorating at the historic Pantheon Theater, and a Frosty Mug Pub Crawl from 5 pm-10 pm. For more information about this event, click HERE.

The Vincennes Parade of Lights is back! This annual holiday tradition took a quick hiatus during peak Covid times, but it is back and better than ever this year! For more information, including the parade route and times, click HERE.

Nothing sets the holiday mood better than a classic Christmas story. Gather your family and friends to see the Old Town Players Production of “Miracle on 34th Street.” This timeless production will be put on on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday! For more information, click HERE.

SATURDAY, DECEMBER 11TH

Start your Saturday off early by attending the annual South Knox Elementary School PTO Craft Show! With dozens of vendors of all kinds, you’re bound to find the perfect gift for your loved ones (or even yourself)! Santa Claus will also be at the Craft Show from 10 am – 2 pm, so don’t forget to bring your little ones! SUNDAY, DECEMBER 12TH

The Children’s Nutcracker is a classic holiday tale that is seen by thousands throughout the world every holiday season; this year the Evansville Children’s Center for Dance Education will be holding their production of The Nutcracker at the Red Skelton Performing Arts Center! There will also be an opportunity to meet Santa before the beginning of the show. If you are looking for an outside activity to do this weekend, we would suggest participating in this month’s Second Sunday Nature Walk – “The Lay of the Land.” This month’s topic is land formation. Participants will be looking at how the shape of the land differs in various places, how it was formed, and what has happened more recently to influence the land. You will see hills and valleys, streams, ancient bedrock, and flat flood plains. Winter is the best time to see the “bones” of the land. For more information about this event, click HERE.

EVENTS HAPPENING EVERY NIGHT

Ouabache Trails Park will present their annual Community Christmas Light Display every night from 5:30 PM – 9:30 PM beginning the Friday after Thanksgiving and running through December 26th. All are invited to drive through the park to view the displays. For more information about this event, click HERE.

Enjoy the beautiful Christmas Light Displays at Northside Park in Bicknell! This annual holiday tradition takes place every from November 26th through December 26th from 6 PM until 10 PM. You won’t want to miss it! For more information about this event, click HERE.
