“The Year We Left Home” by Jean Thompson, Community Read – Red Skelton Museum of American Comedy & Knox County Public Library

The Red Skelton Museum of American Comedy and Knox County Public Library are partnering to host nationally recognized novelist, Jean Thompson and author of The Year We Left Home. The Indiana Humanities “One State/One Story Community Read” features Ms. Thompson’s novel and invites Hoosiers to engage with the book as part of a state-wide conversation. Locally, a four-segment series has been scheduled for the community read.
May 18 – July 18: “When Red was Richard”, exhibit of Red’s time in Vincennes as a young boy (Red Skelton Museum)
May 18, 7:00pm: Author Talk with Sara Eskridge and her book, Rube Tube: CBS & Rural Comedy in the 60’s, refreshments and book signing (Red Skelton Museum gallery)
May 22: Dan Barth’s Medicine Man Show (Knox County Public Library) *Show times are at 11:00am, 1:00pm and 3:00pm.
June 15, 7:00pm: Book Discussion of The Year We Left Home (Pantheon 428 Main Street) *Free copies of the book available at the Museum, the Library and the Knox County Chamber
