The 20th Annual “Great U.S. 50 Yard Sale” will be held Friday – Sunday, May 17-19. Knox County residents living along or near Old U.S. Highway 50 and new U.S. Highway 50 have the opportunity to take part in the coast-to-coast sale. There are no set hours for the weekend yard sales and interested sellers or buyers should visit the Route 50 Yardsale website.
Get ready for the “First City Brewfest” on Saturday, May 18th, the event marks Vincennes’ First Craft Brew Tasting Festival! The festival will be held on the French Commons Grounds, located just south of the George Rogers Clark Memorial. Twenty craft breweries and cider companies from across the Midwest, both regionally and locally will showcase a wide variety of different craft brew types. The festival will also host a home brew competition, with “Backyard Style” judging, meaning the winner will be voted on by the crowd the day of the event. Enjoy great live music from Vincennes resident Hannah Swan and Knox County natives, Jasper and Lincoln Smith. A wide variety of local food trucks and vendors will be on site, along with “Coffee Trike’s” inaugural visit to the area. Admission will give you access to unlimited (drink responsibly) 3 oz. samples of all the breweries and home-brew creations, access to the music performers and vendors. Tired of cooking? Head to the Blue Jeans Community Center on Sunday May 19th for lunch from 11:30am to 1:00pm. The menu includes Stuffed Pasta Shells, Spaghetti & Meat Balls and Ham and Cheese Sliders (for those who don’t like Pasta), Italian Green Beans, Tomatoes, Cucumbers & Onion Salad and Garlic Bread. SUGGESTED DONATION is $9:00/person. Carry out is available. The Blue Jeans Center is located at 1242 Main Street, Monroe City. All proceeds help to keep the Center open.
