“First Month Nature Hike”, “Second Sunday Nature Exploration Walk”

January 12, 2020 @ 8:00 am

Here is a good way to start the year, get exercise and fresh air at Ouabache Trails Park! Meet with local Naturalist Terri Talarek King in front of the park office at 2:00 pm Eastern on Sunday, January 12, to begin this exploratory wandering. The hike will begin on Trail 1 (at the Lynn Wiseman Butterfly Garden) and will proceed throughout the park on as many of the eight trails as possible. Participants may walk for as long or short as they wish. Along the way, hikers will learn about the varied ecosystems, habitats, terrain, and wildlife of the park. This is a prelude to the 2020 Second Sunday Nature Exploration Walks, and a good way to get to know the trails. Walkers should be prepared: terrain is variable, from easy to moderate and rugged, with some steep slopes and wet areas. Participants will be provided with an enhanced trail map, trail and area descriptions, and a list of the 2020 monthly walks. All ages are welcome and families encouraged. There is no fee or registration required, and the pace will be casual. Walks proceed in rain, snow, or shine. *Ouabache Trails Park is located just north of Vincennes, Indiana, at 3500 N. Lower Fort Knox Road. For any questions, or for more information, email leapingfrog55@yahoo.com , or leave a voice message (no text) at 1-812-881-8987.
