First Friday Art Walk, “The Season Heats Up” – Downtown Vincennes

The three downtown art galleries are excited to announce the next First Friday Art Walk, The Season Heats Up. New and continuing exhibitions with many varied forms of art will be on display during the Art Walk from 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm on Friday, July 2.

Art Space Vincennes (521 Main) will continue How We See It, an exhibition of past and current paintings, sculptures, and mixed-media works by gallery owners Amy DeLap and Andrew Jendrzejewski. Their exhibition will continue through the summer, with new works changed each month.  Current Gallery Hours: Tuesday & Thursday, 12:00 pm – 7:00 pm, and Friday & Saturday, 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm.

Northwest Territory Art Guild (316 Main) will open a new exhibit of paintings by Salem, Illinois artist Sara Boyles.  Boyles addresses the issue of suicide in young people, and the way artmaking can be therapy for working through emotions of grief and anger experienced by those who have lost family members in this way.  She paints with acrylic on canvas, often adding collage. Amanda Linn will have her Front Porch Project photographs in the rear of the visitors’ galleries for those who did not see them last month or would like to have another look.  Guild members will have works for sale in the gallery shop area. Regular Gallery Hours: Tuesday – Saturday, 11:00 am – 2:00 pm.  *Additional hours are available by appointment.

The Open Gallery (329 Main) will continue Night Visions, photography by Chuck Reinhart, with new pieces rotated in.  An avid hobbyist photographer, Reinhart’s Milky Way photos are expansive and remarkable captures of the night sky. His work has been picked up on websites NatGeo and SkyView.  A literary scholar by trade, Reinhart suggests that the English Romantic poets used their works to show a connection between the natural and the spiritual worlds. He states, “In a similar but less serious way, my photos establish a connection between the ordinary and the extraordinary.”  The Open Gallery Players will provide live Irish music.  Regular gallery hours: Tuesday & Thursday, 12:00 pm – 7:00 pm and Saturday, 11:00 am – 2:00 pm.
