FIRST CITY PUBLIC SCULPTURE EXHIBITION 2021 – The 2nd of 4 On-Site Discussions

May 27, 2022 @ 5:30 pm 6:30 pm

The Vincennes public and visitors to our community can now view nine new outdoor sculptures added over the last year to the group of seven that inaugurated this three-year project. The new sculptures are located in several sites: Gregg Park, the Vincennes University Campus, Fireman’s Park, and the Vincennes Knox County Visitors and Tourism Bureau.

This spring, to celebrate the new sculptures, the Public Sculpture Project is offering a series of early Friday evening art discussions guided by Art Space Vincennes gallery director Adny Jendrzejewski.

The second discussion will happen at the Vincennes University campus on Friday, May 27th at 5:30 pm. Those wishing to participate are invited to meet at the Art and Design Center building near the corner of 2nd and College. The walk will start with the sculpture at that site, Twisted Botanical Wave. Next will be Hobbe’s Claw Unleashed, in the park next to the Beckes Student Union building across College Avenue. Following will be Abstract 29 at the LRC (library) entrance, and Elli 3 near the Administration Building. The discussion is expected to last one hour.

All sites are wheelchair/scooter accessible. There will be no seating available, so visitors who have difficulty standing for a sustained period may want to bring lawn chairs. If it rains, the talk will be postponed to the following evening, Saturday, May 28th at 5:30 pm. Updates will be available on the Art Space Vincennes and 1st City Public Sculpture Project Facebook pages.

In June, the sculptures at Fireman’s Park, the Knox County Visitors and Tourism Bureau, and 3rd and Main Streets will be the evening’s focus. Revisiting the sculptures on Culbertson Boulevard sited in 2020 will be the focus of another evening’s discussion.
