Help us welcome the month of March with some great events in Knox County!

Get out and experience a day of free musical entertainment at the Annual “Old Post Bluegrass Jam” on Sunday, March 1 at the Jefferson Union Student Center located at 1379 N. Chestnut Street on the Vincennes University campus. The doors open at 10 AM and area musicians are invited to bring their acoustic instruments to jam with other musicians throughout the day! The “First Friday” Art Walk is back for the 2020 season, beginning on March 6! The three downtown galleries and the V.U. Shircliff Gallery will be open for public to enjoy new art exhibits from 5-8 PM. Be sure to stop by one of these three downtown galleries: Art Space, The Northwest Territory Art Guild, and the Open Gallery.

Award winning country singer, songwriter and actress, Pam Tillis, will perform at 7:30 PM on Friday, March 6 at the Red Skelton Performing Arts Center. For tickets and more information, please call 812-888-4354.

The Second Sunday Nature Walk will take place on March 8 at 2 PM. Mosses and Lichens and Liverworts – Oh My! Mosses, Lichens and Liverworts grow on trees, stumps, old logs, rocks and sometimes even soil. These small species can be easily overlooked, but they are powerhouses that start growing on those hard surfaces and provide places for other plants tot take hold.

Fox Ridge Manor invites all veterans to enjoy a free monthly breakfast on the second Thursday of every month! The next Veterans’ Breakfast will be held in the dining room of Fox Ridge Manor on Thursday, March 12 from 8:30-9:30 AM. Stop in and enjoy visiting will fellow comrades during this free monthly breakfast. Please RSVP to Vicki at 812-895-1000.

“The Great War” WWI Living History Event will be held at the Indiana Military Museum on Saturday, March 21 from 9 AM – 5 PM, and Sunday from 9 AM – 4 PM. Hundreds of WWI artifacts will be on exhibit with examples including artillery, vehicles and living history displays. Battles will be re-enacted both days with representatives of Allied and German troops. There is FREE admission to the outdoor events.

During “Kid Adventure Day” children can learn about Lewis and Clark’s journey and do a scavenger hunt, make a map and compass, and pack a canoe. Tickets are $10 for Indiana State Museum members or $12 for non-members. You can purchase tickets by calling 812-882-7422. This event is for youth to attend on their own, and registration is required.
