Happy Birthday American Celebration – Downtown Vincennes
July 4, 2021 @ 8:00 am – 5:00 pm
The City of Vincennes is happy to announce that the annual Happy Birthday America Celebration is back, complete with the annual parade, fireworks, and more in downtown Vincennes! Beginning in the afternoon and running throughout the day, food vendors and merchandise vendors will be set up on Patrick Henry Square.
The annual July 4th Parade is scheduled to step off at 6:00 p.m. from the intersection of Second and Hart streets. The parade will travel east on Hart Street to the intersection of 7th and Hart. From there, it will turn south on 7th Street and proceed to the corner of 7th and Main streets. Traveling west on Main, the parade turn on North 2nd Street and will pass the reviewing stand which will be set up in front of the Old State Bank. *The Mayor’s office employees will again be distributing trash bags prior to the parade. Mayor Yochum asks that residents “Take pride in your community and help keep Vincennes clean.” Parade-goers can put their empty cups, candy wrappers, etc. in the bags, tie them up and leave them on the curb after the parade. City workers will then collect and dispose of the bags properly.
NOTE: Beginning at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, all streets that will be used for parade preparations and for the parade itself will be blocked off. All motorists are asked to avoid driving in the area west of North 2nd Street and South of Seminary Street due to heavy parade traffic.
The annual July 4th Fireworks display, sponsored by the City of Vincennes, will be shot off from the Lincoln Memorial Bridge beginning at dusk. The Lincoln Memorial Bridge will be closed on both sides of the Wabash River at 6:00 p.m. to prepare for the fireworks show.
