Byron Bobe’s Pizza House

Byron Bobe’s Pizza House has been a local favorite! The Pizza House is still family owned and ran with the same passion for pizza that has sustained the restaurant for three generations!

It is a tradition that began in the early 1950s by Billy Bobe, a cook in the merchant marines during World War II and in the army during the Korean War. He began making pizzas in his home after his travels and experimented until settling on the recipe the restaurant still uses today. He opened his business in 1955 at its current location on Sixth Street in Vincennes, Ind. At the time, it was the only pizza available for 80 miles. Larry, Billy’s younger brother, started managing the pizzeria at the age of 17 years old. Its a craft hes been mastering his entire life and one he came to call his own when he opened his doors on the corner of 9th and State Street in Lawrenceville Illinois.

This is where Larry’s sons started their pizza journey. Brad and Brett worked at their dad’s shop until opening their own location in Olney, Illinois in 2002. In 2017 they opened their location in Mount Carmel, Illinois. Recently Brett’s children opened their newest and first location in downtown Albion, Illinois in March of 2022. Growing their business to five locations in Vincennes, Mount Carmel, Olney, Lawrenceville, and Albion.

Now, the third generation is learning the craft. Cody, Joe and Allie Bobe work together managing the stores. Two of Larry’s other grandchildren are very involved as well. You might find Madison taking your order with her famous smile and Hoa whipping up and delivering mouthwatering pizza and breadsticks. Bobe’s Pizza is made from scratch and from a family with love, a tradition that they care deeply about!
