“Great Bowls of Fire” -The Remix (Chili Cook-Off) & Poker Run – Riverfront Pavilion
October 23, 2020 @ 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm
The United Way of Knox County is bringing the chili cook-off back for 2020! “Great Bowls of Fire” – The Remix sponsored by Farbest Foods and Futaba will be held on Friday, October 23 and is adding an exciting twist with a Poker Run! Interested supporters can visit the 25+ “celebrity” chefs by texting the word Remix to 71777. You can then vote for your favorite by donating to United Way. The cook-off itself will be a Poker Run in the downtown area with 25+ chefs being at various locations (e.g. Mayor Yochum at City Hall, Campaign co-chair Jonathan Vennard at Best One Tire). Beginning at 6:00pm chili fans can pick up the list of 25+ chili chefs and map with locations at the pavilion “drive-thru” and park to visit at each location or simply drive-through and chefs will bring chili tasting samples out. Chefs will be practicing social distancing and serving chili samples to people driving up to the area or the public can park and visit the chefs observing the same rules. Ten locations will have poker cards for a prize to the best hand at the end of the event. Awards will be given to chefs collecting the most online donations and dollars collected the evening of the event. A special spirit award will be presented by Deb Reynolds in honor of her late husband who was the famous “Mikey Bones” of the early chili cook off days. Questions?
