Vincennes’ Best Itinerary for Retirees

It’s a fact – not marketing – that Vincennes, Ind., is the best road trip for retirees, empty-nesters and veterans. Not only does the picturesque town offer attractions that especially appeal to those in this age bracket, for example, the Red Skelton Museum of American Comedy, but the attractions are all within just a mile or so of one another, making it easy walking, not exhausting, and even downtown parking has plenty of room!

Day 1 — America’s Story

10:00 a.m. — George Rogers Clark National Historical Park

11:30 a.m. — Old Cathedral & historic downtown
Explore the Basilica of St. Francis Xavier and its historic surroundings before strolling downtown.

12:30 p.m. — Lunch downtown – Try Peafections, Frank’s Restaurant, Procopios, or Moonlight Cafe

2:00 p.m. — Grouseland
Tour William Henry Harrison’s historic mansion and learn about Vincennes during the Indiana Territory period.

3:30 p.m. — Downtown shopping & art
Build in time for boutiques, galleries, antiques and local businesses.

5:30 p.m. — Check into hotel

7:00 p.m. — Dinner & evening entertainment
Depending on the calendar, finish with a show, concert, comedy or special event.
