DESCRIPTION:The Vincennes University Humanities Film & Lecture Series and Wabash Valley Progressives are joining together on Monday\, October 10th to celebrate Indigenous Peoples’ Day at the Red Skelton Performing Arts Center located at 20 W Red Skelton Blvd in Vincennes\, Indiana. The PBS film “We Shall Remain: Tecumseh’s Vision” will be screened starting at 5:30 p.m.\, and a discussion will follow. Dr. Nancy Peterson\, Professor of English and an affiliated faculty member of the Native American and Indigenous Studies program at Purdue University\, will lead the discussion. Light refreshments will also be provided. The event is free and open to the public; please register at https://www.eventbrite.com/e/420636624467. \n\n\n\nIndigenous Peoples’ Day is a holiday in the United States that celebrates and honors Native American peoples and commemorates their histories and cultures. “Our whole state\, Indiana\, was named for being an area rich with different Native American tribes that lived here for over a thousand years before European settlers came to North America. The Wabash Valley Progressives want to acknowledge and pay homage to these indigenous peoples that came before us and make sure their history is told.
