SUMMARY:"Above and Below: the Canopy and the Floor"\, Second Sunday Nature Walk - Ouabache Trails Park
DESCRIPTION:What kinds of connections can we find between what is well above us and what is under our feet? On this walk\, we will stop in different types of places- wet and dry\, high and low\, dense and sparse. We will observe what is over our heads\, in canopy\, and also explore what is on the ground\, and even under the forest floor litter\, under and around old logs and stumps\, and in the water. How do they effect one another? What animals and other organisms travel between the upper and lower reaches\, and how do they tie them together. \n\n\n\n**All walks occur on the second Sunday of each month\, starting at 2:00 pm Eastern\, and proceed inrain\, snow\, or shine (but not in severe weather!) The meeting places change according to what trailswill be used that day.**All walks are free of charge and there is no registration required. All ages are welcome and familiesencouraged. Please be aware that some walks involve steep slopes or wet places\, and dress accordingly.Trails vary from easy to moderate to rugged. The description of each walk includes the conditions. Most walks last about 1 – 1.5 hours\, but can be longer.**The walks are provided by Independent Naturalist Terri Talarek King. Any questions can be emailedto her at leapingfrog55@yahoo.com \, or a voice message (no text) can be left at 812-881-8987.**Each walk is announced via local media.
