SUMMARY:19th Amendment Centennial "Scavenger Hunt"
DESCRIPTION:Through the month of August\, George Rogers Clark National Historical Park is celebrating the centennial anniversary of the 19th Amendment giving women the right to vote with a virtual scavenger hunt.  The scavenger hunt features posters of important women organizers of the historic accomplishment.  People who wish to take part can either pick up the crossword checklist from the park or take “selfies” with each of the 10 posters that can be found throughout the Vincennes community. Share your photos if you like.  As part of the Junior Ranger Program\, the first 100 children (14 years and under) who take part will receive a commemorative Junior Ranger badge. After those are gone\, the next few participants can choose between a traditional Junior Ranger badge or patch. Chief Park Ranger\, Joe Herron stated\, “We didn’t get to do a Junior Ranger day this summer\, so hopefully this will give families a chance to get out in the community and learn in a safe way”.  The COVID-19 pandemic has made holding a formal gathering difficult\, but park staff feel this will be a safe way for people to learn about the women’s suffrage movement while still socially distancing. \n\n\n\nOther agencies participating include: \n\n\n\nCity of VincennesKnox County Chamber of CommerceKnox County Public LibraryThe Red Skelton Museum of American ComedyVincennes Knox County Visitors and Tourism BureauVincennes State Historic Sites
